In details, it is a never ending story because there are a lot of technologies like fiber optic channels, Gigabit Ethernet, GSM SMSc connections, state of the art firewalls, VPNs, SQL databases, virtual servers, fault tolerant storage, multiprocessor CPUs etc. in a technical environment that delivers best performance, manageability, accountability, programmability and security to operates such a gateway connected with GSM operators, Voice operators and ISP's.
From the SMS (MMS) point of view, a GSM mobile originated message, cross the GSM network, than the IP network (Virtual Private - VPN) from the GSM operator to Online Services firewall, application proxy, SMSc connector, and finally it is checked and inserted in a SQL database. In every communication node there are some validation rules that are enforced and some logging systems that provides accountancy.
The SQL database it is the integration point for all connector like SMSc connectors with the GSM operators, e-mail system, web applications and voice connectors. Online web reporting and monitoring system, alerting and notification system are based on the same online data processing.
In our vision this platform provides the flexibility to be integrated in a large variety of projects like automatic monitoring and alerting systems based on mobile autonomous terminals.
